I try to have these conversations as much as I can but notice that mine generally tend to be drawn to typical gender roles. I accept this but still try and challenge perceptions where I can. And of course, I have had conversations about the difference between sex and gender and sexuality and explained that neither are discreet categories by throwing in intersex, trans people and gay / lesbian / bi and pan into the mix. It's hard to do in a way that is age appropriate and so that they understand as it can get complicated for growing brains (too complicated for some adult brains even) but they have got a growing concept of it and know that all orientations are equal, deserve acceptance and should have the same rights. It's slowly sinking in but something we need to constantly reinforce through spiral learning and answering questions I think...
